Grate excitement prevailes in camp on account of late battle at Roanoak Island. The yankees took the Island a grate many of our men was slain but we thing their loss was grate. There aim is to take Norfolk and cut us off hear on the Penninsula and take Richmond but I think that will be a most too big a slishe for them. I hope the people of georgia will a wake up to a sience of their duty and come and ade us in our grate strugel for liberty. I know thare is men in Georgia who aught to come. If they do not come I think they will be made come. I will come to a close as Brother gave you all the news. I will write again when mr Ragen returns.
