Join us at Margaret Mitchell House on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 7:00 PM, for a book discussion with Chuck Thompson about his new book, Better off Without ’Em: A Northern Manifesto for Southern Secession. Convinced that the American South is holding back the rest of the United States, Thompson offers an incendiary inquiry into a proposition secretly entertained by more than a few Americans on both sides of the Mason-Dixon line. Following the lecture will be a moderated discussion between Thompson and Southern counter-point James C. Cobb, Spalding Distinguished Professor of History at the University of Georgia and former president of the Southern Historical Association.
Admission for lectures is $5 members, $10 nonmembers, and free to AHC Insiders unless otherwise noted. Reservations are required; call 404.814.4150 or purchase advance tickets and reserve online. Student admission $5 with coupon code STUDENT.
What people are saying about Better off Without ’Em:
“Even as a joke, it is not funny.”
“The author taunts Southerners for their suspicion of “book larnin,’” but there ain’t much evidence of book larnin’ in Better Off Without ‘Em.”
